Paul Commission

Over the Easter holidays I was commissioned by my boyfriends parents to paint a series of 3 for their new extension. I had complete free rein over subject matter which I found quite daunting, especially as this was my first big commission! These were the results and reassuringly, they were happy customers!

Swedish Meadows

This is my final project from my 2nd year at University College Falmouth. I have been itching to do florals for a while now and when I found out the project brief was to be based around John Lewis and Bill Hill Rug co. I knew I had to take my chances! I was excited to do my first interiors project and I knew I wanted to do florals with a twist, so I started thinking about more overlooked plants such as weeds and meadow flowers. This led me to look at Swedish designers such as Josef Frank and Gocken Jobs and the rest followed...

2nd Year Exhibition Lengths

A sneak peak of my display at the 2nd Year Textile Design Exhibition last month. The blue length was my tester. I did it on a cheap pillow cotton with white discharge and a dusty pink pigment as the accent detail colour. My second length was done on habotai silk, with again white discharge and gold metallic pigment. I really enjoyed the process of creating a fashion length. It's so much more satisfying seeing it on a larger surface area!

Birds Eye View

The project I completed at the end of 2nd term is finally up! I'm sorry it's taken so long! I based my designs on aerial landscapes such as fields, irrigated land, logs floating on a river etc. Inspired by National Geographic and images from Google Earth, I wanted to prove that even by viewing from a different angle, our planet is full of pattern. Through my use of colour and style of painting, I wanted to abstract the images so that the focus was more on the actual pattern. My production piece lengths are based on this project also and will be up exhibiting in Tremough Campus Design Centre, Falmouth University College, tomorrow. Photos up soon! Hope you enjoy this for now anyway...

Haven '12

It was that time of year again, when the Weedon's, Pinkney's and O'Dowds reunite for a trip to the depths of Cornwall in the Haven house on Prussia Cove.

Joules

At the end of November last year me and my fellow print students were involved in an 11 week collaboration with the clothing company Joules. My concept for this project was based on 'Harbours'. Me and my housemate actually came joint 1st place and are now in the stages of arranging placements with them around Easter! Heres a selection of some of the 15 design collection...
