Ohh Deer - Oh YES!

I have been in London the last few days, seeing Bon Iver at Wembley Arena (no biggy), dissertation research at the V&A, a trip to the Selvedge Winter Fair and generally catching up with friends! Been seriously out of the loop and definitely swept up in the whole London bubble.

Briefly got time to check my emails this morning and I was VERY surprised to have received an email from ohhdeer.com last thursday to inform me I had WON their Pillow Fight Competition!!! My Swedish Meadow design is 1 of 14 chosen and will now be sold in Ohh Deer's stocklists, which includes the Saatchi Gallery, Tate Modern and the Millennium Gallery shop, as well as their online store. Chuffed much!?

For anyone who does want a platform in which their designs/illustrations can be seen by an audience who appreciates original work and sold by a company who does acknowledge you as an artist, then I would highly recommend entering any future Ohh Deer competitions!

Project Update

ISLAMIC GEOMETRICS

Sorry it's been a while! I have been thrown back in to my final year with a tonne of work! Pesky dissertation is already creeping up on me! Just so you don't think I have gone in to hibernation for Winter, I thought I would give you a little snippet of what I have been working on since I have been back at Uni.

The project I am currently designing for is a 12 week project, finishing in January, with an open brief. I have decided to focus on geometrics, the journey beginning with Islamic ceramic patterns. In the next few weeks I will hopefully be playing around with less symmetrical ideas and more engineered pieces for fashion. I intend on working with the process of devore and also translating some of designs through the jacquard machine! Watch this space...

Short Films

I spent a few days down in Somerset hanging out with my boyfriend and his friends whilst shooting short films. We took a day trip to Landacre Bridge in the Emoor National Park, Devon, for the 'Riverside' video. I even had my acting debut and helped edit it in post production. I really enjoyed the editing process of it though... Maybe a change in career path!? The boys filmed another short called 'No Goodbyes'... Although this time I only helped out by making bacon sarnies!

Art @ The Vine

As mentioned before, I was involved in an event last night that was organised by the lovely Tenaya Steed. I managed to get a few paintings together in the last couple of days, despite the creative block in the last post!

I did attempt at documenting the night and the other artists work, but a few too many free glasses of wine and I'm afraid half of them were not blog worthy. I had lots of fun setting it up and enjoyed having something to work towards. Thank you to everyone that turned up and made it a great evening. All the work will be up for a few more days, so if anything tickles your fancy, pop on down!
